If you happen to click on this square you will notice that you can change the order of the texts in the "content" part of this panel. Same thing for the icon a fex hexes lower.

This hex has notes. While it is selected try this:

  • Click on the D20 at the top left of the menu. You will enter what is called "Play mode".

  • Go see the "Notes" part in the Hex tab.

To get out of play mode click on the D20 icon again.

The three icons probably mean something. or not. I don't judge. Any way you can change the order of the icon by moving them in the "content" part of this panel. Same thing for the texts a fex hexes higher.

Changing the shape of the tiles does not adapt the content. It might not be beautilful and you should decide of the shape before starting to draw complex structures.

As you can see we used square tiles here. Same as in the dungeon. You can change the shape of the tiles by clicking on this button in the menu bar on top :

Try the other buttons in the menu bar.

  • The "#" button will display the coordinates of the tiles. It is useful to make link between paper notes and online notes.
  • the "Border" button will toggle the border of the tiles.
  • And the "BW" button will disable the background on the tiles if you want to save ink when printing.

Portal by which you just arrived

Double click to go back to the temple

Try to extend the village here by using the Town and Common tiles in the Terrains tab.

Look around in the Hex tab and add small icons into the tiles to represent what is on this tile (a dragon ? a bear ? a weapon ?)

As you can see you can use a picture as a background image for you map.

  • Go to the Resource tab.

  • Click on the "Upload resources" button and choose your background. It can be a map or anything else you can think of.

  • A new line will appear in the resources list. Click on the corresponding "background" button to make it the background of the current map.

  • Then you will probably want to change the opacity of the map and adjust the position of the background in the Maps tab.

The necroment is hiding here

The face of the necroment was added to the left by clicking on one of the icon in the Hex tab.

Portal to the village.
Double click on the arrow to go there.

Side note : I didn't find the author of this map. If you know him/her contact me so that I can give credit.

Yellow tiles mean difficult terrain

Part of the temple is on fire

Flooded room

Dragon amulet in the hand of the skeleton

Trees outside

Lava. Lava everywhere!

BOUH !

No I won't

do that

to you ;)

This map is very small but will teach you how to save your work.

Know that this software/website won't save anything. You have to save anything on your computer. If you draw a map and leave it will be lost.

Go into the Maps tab and take a look at the Save section.

  • The "Map" button will download the current map.
  • The "Maps" will download all the map.
  • The "Everything" button will download all the maps and all the resources.

When in doubt use the "Everything" button.

Continue ...

You can also share the map by exporting it to an image and host it wherever you want.

The "As link" button will display a text link (corresponding to the curent map) that you can share anywhere. It easier but you can't share custom tiles or big map this way (there is other limitations).

Try it now!

I said that nothing was saved but it's not completely true. Some browser have something called a local storage that persist from session ot session and between reboots. You can use it to save your maps automatically. If I were you I would still save Everything from time to time just to be safe.
Anyway. Go to the bottom of the Maps tab and you will see "Local save", "Local load" and "Auto local save" buttons and checkbox. Try to save, do some modifications and then load. Checking the "Auto local save" checkbox will save you project every few seconds. When you come back you can use the "Local load" button.

Try playing with the buttons in the Maps tab. You should be able to clear the map. Adding columns and rows. And the generate button make (bad) random content for the map.

If you break something just reload the page.
